Summary: Today's students must be prepared to
utilize technology in a variety of situations after they leave the K-12
environment and enter a university or the work force. In order for this
to occur, teachers are assigned the task of adding technology into
their already crowded lesson plans. We have taken curriculum that is
currently being taught and enriched the lessons by adding technology
components. The activities that will be demonstrated have been
kid-tested in classrooms across the country. Attendees will leave with
a variety of technology-infused lessons which can be adjusted to fit
various grade levels and subject areas. Content that will be addressed
includes: lessons utilizing Microsoft Office products, the Internet and
Inspiration. The atmosphere for the session will invite people to
ask questions, share their knowledge and contribute ideas. The
presenters will offer creative ideas that will assist educators provide
unique opportunities for their students.
Both presenters are experienced in offering workshops throughout the United States, which has broadened their viewpoint of the needs of educators. Their workshops have repeatedly been selected by NECC (National Educational Computing Conference) for the prestigious designation of Best of the Best. Joan and Janet have presented at other large conventions including National Middle School Association, Texas Computer Education Association, New York State Association for Computers and Technology in Education, Organization for Educational Technology and Curriculum (Oregon), Alabama Educational Technology Association. North Carolina Educational Technology Conference and North Carolina Association for Education Communications and Technology.
They have written two books, “Successful Solutions for Technology Professional Development” and “Successful Solutions for Technology Integration”. Book number three in the Successful Solutions series is currently in the works.
