Summary: Texas has given clear and concise directions for elementary science with the implementation of the TEKS in 1998 and TAKS in 2003-05. The directives these tools provide will help make decisions based on the TAKS data, and aid in the design of elementary science instructional strategies. The strategies will engage student learning through quality elementary science instruction at the depth and complexity required by the State; move the students from 3-dimensional hands-on to 2-dimensional performance; and promote teacher confidence in the sciences.

This workshop will help apply science teaching strategies to aligned curriculum objectives in order to improve student performance.

Quotes: Great job!  I really enjoyed the workshop and left with valuable information!

I am going to return to my classroom and apply many of these concepts.  Thank you for a great workshop.

Morning data was informational & very helpful.  Afternoon was active & hands-on- FUN!

... I learned many ways to interpret the TAKS data.  I LOVE to see the TEKS aligned this way!

The hands-on was great.  Audience participation activities were extremely helpful!
